Ashley Furniture Industries is seeking an Assistant Fleet Manager to support the Fleet Manager in overseeing the company’s vehicle fleet operations. This role focuses on safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance within a manufacturing and distribution environment.

Based in Mesquite, TX, the position involves driving operational excellence, coaching drivers, and ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining a strong safety culture and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation management or a similar leadership role in logistics.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, hours of service (HOS), and safety.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and industry tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee drivers, setting expectations for safety, performance, and policy compliance.
• Maintain a safety-focused culture by monitoring DOT adherence and safety standards.
• Monitor driver metrics: on-time performance, fuel efficiency, HOS, routing and scheduling.
• Communicate with drivers, explain policies, and coach for alignment.
• Resolve driver issues related to routing, loads, and equipment promptly.
• Foster a collaborative team environment and drive operational excellence.
• Monitor performance and provide documentation or corrective actions as needed.
