Job summary

Westford Veterinary Emergency Referral Center in Westford, Massachusetts is seeking an Overnight Emergency Technician Assistant to join our ER/ICU team. This role supports daily hospital operations, including patient restraint, lab work, radiology, and compassionate patient care.

Required at least a high school diploma, 6 months veterinary or animal handling experience, and ability to multitask and lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months previous experience in a veterinary or animal handling role.
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
• Able to multitask.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate appropriate and efficient methods of restraint.
• Assist in daily hospital maintenance, including laundry, stocking, cleaning, walking patients, and daily treatment tasks.
• Efficiently and safely multitask with exams, in house lab work, radiology, and other-directed tasks.
• Clean cages and runs to acceptable hospital standards.
• Provide compassionate care for all clients and patients in varying emotional states.
• Fill medications for outpatients and hospitalized patients, as instructed.
• Maintain positive and professional working relationships with all team members.
• Be able to take constructive criticism from leadership.
• Follow directions and orders from veterinarians or veterinary technicians.
• Identify when assistance is needed in different areas of the hospital.
• Ability to stay focused in turbulent environments.
• Assist in emergency situations, such as controlling bleeding, administering medications or fluids, and performing CPR.
• Assist in the aftercare process in a respectful manner.
