Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Florida seeks a Veterinary Nursing Shift Lead to own shift rhythm, ensure top-tier care, and lead with heart and mentorship. You’ll supervise huddles, coaching, and floor support to keep operations smooth and efficient.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year as a veterinary technician or assistant, with emergency or specialty medicine experience, and a passion for developing teammates while maintaining clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVMT) or enrolled in VEG Credentialing Support Program preferred.
• 1+ year of experience as veterinary technician or assistant; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Strong grasp of clinical workflow and team dynamics.
• Leadership instincts and ownership mindset; ability to grow professionally.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient status, team bandwidth, and shift-wide needs.
• Manage daily workflow and adapt to the unexpected.
• Ensure shift roles are clearly assigned and updated.
• Step in on the floor where needed to support the team.
• Coordinate breaks, resolve conflicts, and model calm under pressure.
• Lead shift transitions, huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups.
• Communicate clearly and elevate key issues to leadership.
• Turn downtime into learning opportunities for the team.
