Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. in Minnesota seeks a lab technician to gather samples, run tests on products and materials, and document results. This role supports quality and safety across our dairy production.

You will work a rotating 12-hour shift from 6pm to 6am, lifting up to 40 pounds, and must have a two-year associate degree in dairy or food field and strong math/inspection skills. Training provided; diverse team; opportunity to contribute to quality at Saputo.

Qualifications

• Two-year Associate's Degree in a Dairy or Food-related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong math and inspection skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work in a 35° cold storage environment.
• Flexibility to work weekends, shifts and overtime.
• Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to read meters and charts and maintain lab records.
• Familiarity with dairy lab procedures and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Gathers samples for analytical testing and performs laboratory tests on products, raw materials, ingredients and lab samples to determine if they meet necessary requirements.
• Prepares samples of products for future reference and documents results.
• Examines results of audit tests to identify problems with sanitation and manufacturing processes.
• Enters laboratory data into computer system.
• Alerts management when products are out of specification.
• Responsible for reporting food safety or quality problems to management and assists in appropriate personnel.
• Examines inventory to determine what supplies need to be ordered and informs appropriate personnel.
• Trains other employees on the proper use of equipment and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
