Job summary

Ball State University is seeking a Custodian Relief & Project on-campus for the 3rd shift (10:30 pm–7:00 am). This full-time role supports cleaning and maintenance of university facilities on a beautiful campus, with excellent pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• No allergies to soaps, cleaning agents, chemicals or environmental factors in custodial service.
• Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolding of various heights to perform duties.
• Must read and comprehend policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, university policies, procedures, and communications.
• If required by assignment, possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and be insurable under the university’s auto fleet policy.
• Must be able to perform all mental and physical requirements as outlined in each job duty.
• Must successfully pass manlift certification, if position requires it, within a reasonable period of time after hire.
• Must have at least one year’s work experience (full time or part time).
• You must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Clean, renovate, and renew floor finishes and surfaces using mops and machines.
• Maintain carpet floor coverings by vacuuming and extraction cleaning.
• Clean and service restrooms including lavatories, toilets, showers and related areas.
• Dust, vacuum, and polish furniture and fixtures; clean facilities, fixtures, hardware and windows.
• Collect and dispose of trash and debris.
• Sweep exterior entrances and windows; manage exterior surfaces and fixtures.
• Clean, maintain, restock, and organize storage areas and equipment; report repairs.
• Acquire knowledge of job-related chemicals and safety.
• Lock and unlock doors according to policy.
• Set rooms according to custodial work sheets and client specifications.
