Job summary

California Sierra Express is hiring a part-time Class A driver based in the LAX/Compton area to operate a 53-foot swing-door trailer for air freight pickups, deliveries, and freight recovery. Shift runs 5:00 PM–11:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with pay ranging from $28.00 to $30.00 per hour depending on experience.

Candidates must have at least two years of commercial driving experience, a valid CDL, and a clean DMV record.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The position is a part‑time Class A driver with a pay range of $28.00+ DOE, working the shift from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM Monday through Friday. Responsibilities include operating a 53‑foot swing‑door trailer to pick up, deliver, and recover freight in a timely and professional manner.

Experience

At least two years of commercial driving experience in a trailer‑combination vehicle is required; a hazmat endorsement is preferred.

Drivers will primarily operate in the LAX cargo terminals, picking up and delivering air freight shipments, and will also service customer locations throughout the South Bay area between LAX and Compton.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Complete assigned route in a timely manner.
• Practice defensive driving principles and follow all company safety policies.
• Comply with all laws and regulations relating to driving, transporting, and handling freight, including those of the FMCSA, DOT, TSA, and OSHA.
• Adhere to federal drug and alcohol regulations.
• Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records such as Vehicle Inspection Reports, daily manifests, and incident reports.
• Load and unload freight; report accurate dimensions and weight of freight.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• At least 23 years of age.
• Minimum of two (2) years of commercial driving experience.
• Clean DMV record (no serious moving violations in the past five years).
• Valid DOT Medical Examination Card.
• Successful completion of a drug screen and TSA background check.
• Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
• Hazardous materials (HAZMAT) certification, preferred.
• Experience driving in adverse weather conditions, mountainous terrain, and chaining installation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
