Job summary

California Sierra Express is seeking a Class A driver for nightly linehaul runs from Sacramento to Reno and back, loading/unloading preloaded trailers. The role requires safe operation of up to a 53-foot tractor trailer and meticulous record keeping (ELD, logs, manifests, incident reports).

Work schedule is 6:00/8:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Monday to Friday, with start times varying for special deliveries. Benefits include health, dental, vision, paid time off, 401(k), and more.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Hazmat endorsement preferred.
• Must be at least 23 years of age.
• Minimum of two (2) years commercial driving experience.
• Clean DMV record (no serious moving violations in the past 5 years).
• Valid DOT Medical Examination Card.
• Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and TSA background check.
• Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Consistent attendance Mon - Fri is mandatory.
• Complete assigned line haul route in a timely manner.Route duration can vary day to day and may require 10-12 hours to complete.
• Practice defensive driving principles and follow all company safety policies.
• Comply with all laws and regulations relating to driving, transporting and handling of freight including those issued by but limited to The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT).
• Comply with truck and cargo security requirements as outlined by the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA).
• Comply with safe work practices as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)
• Comply with federal drug and alcohol regulations.

This position is primarily a dedicated run from Sacramento to Reno and then back to Sacramento. Drop and swap preloaded trailers.

The Class A (linehaul) Driver supports the Operations Manager and department in the performance of nightly activities which includes, but is not limited to, operating up to a 53-foot tractor trailer to perform drop and hook deliveries of freight in a time-sensitive and professional manner.

The Class A Driver maintains accurate, up-to-date records such as, but not limited to, Electronic Logging Device (ELD), Vehicle Inspection Reports, daily manifests, and incident reporting.

The Class A Driver adheres to laws and regulations governed by regulatory agencies such as, but not limited to, The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Transportation Safety Administration (TSA). This is a safety sensitive position and falls under federal drug and alcohol regulations.
