Job summary

California Sierra Express seeks a Local Class A Flatbed Driver to transport pallets of metal materials in the LA Metro area. This part-time relief driver role supports delivery operations when full-time drivers are unavailable.

Responsibilities include securing cargo with straps, tarping when needed, completing timely deliveries, and maintaining records like Vehicle Inspection Reports and daily manifests. CDL required, with DOT/TSA compliance.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Must be at least 23 years of age.
• Minimum of two (2) years commercial driving experience.
• Clean DMV record (no serious moving violations in the past 5 years).
• Valid DOT Medical Examination Card.
• Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and TSA background check.
• Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
• Hazardous materials (HAZMAT) endorsement, preferred.
• Experience driving in adverse weather conditions, mountains, and chaining installation.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English; verbally and in writing.

• Complete assigned route in a timely manner. Route size can vary day to day and may require 10-12 hours to complete.
• Practice defensive driving principles and follow all company safety policies.
• Comply with all laws and regulations relating to driving, transporting and handling of freight including those issued by but limited to The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT).
• Comply with truck and trailer security requirements as outlined by the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA).
• Comply with safe work practices as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)
• Comply with federal drug and alcohol regulations.

Work Schedule: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM; When regular drivers are not available.

We're looking for an experienced Local Class A Flatbed Driver to transport pallets of metal materials to customer sites throughout the LA Metro area. This PT role that will be in support our delivery operations when our FT drivers are not available. It involves carefully securing cargo with straps, tarping when needed and by completing deliveries of freight in a time-sensitive and professional manner.

Class A Drivers maintain accurate, up-to-date records such as Vehicle Inspection Reports, daily manifests, and incident reports. The Class A Driver may be responsible for loading and unloading freight and for reporting accurate dimensions and weight of freight.

California Sierra Express has been serving the air freight logistics industry for over 35 years. We operate six freight terminals in CA and one in Reno, NV. We're an overnight carrier serving international and domestic freight forwarders as a final mile Pick-Up and Delivery agent for shipments that travel around the globe.
