Job summary

California Sierra Express is seeking a full-time Class A Driver to support daily freight pick-ups and deliveries in the Reno, NV area. You will maintain ELD records and manifests, drive safely, and help ensure on-time service for domestic and international shipments.

The role requires a valid CDL, at least 23 years old, 2+ years of driving experience, and a clean DMV record. TSA background checks and drug screening are part of the process; remote work is not available.

Qualifications

• CDL required and clean DMV record with no serious violations in 5 years.
• Minimum of two years commercial driving experience.
• DOT Medical Examination Card valid.
• Hazardous materials (HAZMAT) certification preferred.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and TSA background check.
• English communication skills required (oral and written).

Responsibilities

• Consistent attendance Mon - Fri is mandatory.
• Complete assigned line haul route in a timely manner; route duration may vary and can require 10-12 hours.
• Practice defensive driving principles and follow all company safety policies.
• Comply with all laws and regulations relating to driving, transporting and handling of freight including FMCSA and DOT.
• Comply with TSA security requirements and OSHA safety guidelines.
• Comply with federal drug and alcohol regulations.

Qualifications: Requires a minimum 2-year driving experience in Tractor with 53' dry van trailer

Our Class A Drivers support the operations department in the performance of daily activities by completing pick-ups and deliveries of freight in a time-sensitive and professional manner.

The Class A Driver maintains accurate, up-to-date records such as, but not limited to, Electronic Logging Device (ELD), Vehicle Inspection Reports, daily manifests, and incident reporting.

The Class A Driver adheres to laws and regulations governed by regulatory agencies such as, but not limited to, The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Transportation Safety Administration (TSA). This is a safety sensitive position and falls under federal drug and alcohol regulations.

California Sierra Express has been serving the air freight logistics industry for over 35 years. We operate six freight terminals in CA and one in Reno, NV. We're an overnight carrier serving international and domestic freight forwarders as a final mile Pick-Up and Delivery agent for shipments that travel around the globe.

• Comply with all laws and regulations relating to driving, transporting and handling of freight including those issued by but limited to The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT).
• Comply with truck and cargo security requirements as outlined by the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA).
• Comply with safe work practices as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)
• Comply with federal drug and alcohol regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Must be at least 23 years of age.
• Minimum of two (2) years commercial driving experience.
• Clean DMV record (no serious moving violations in the past 5 years)
• Valid DOT Medical Examination Card.
• Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and TSA background check.
• Knowledge of DOT, FMSCA, federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
• Hazardous materials (HAZMAT) certification, preferred.
• Experience driving in adverse weather conditions, mountains, and chaining installation.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English; verbally and in writing.
