Job summary

UW Medical Center-Northwest in Seattle is seeking a Night Shift Charge Nurse for the Emergency Department. This fast-paced 22-bed Level IV Trauma Center delivers high-acuity care and supports a diverse regional patient population.

As Charge Nurse you will coordinate patient flow, assign resources, and supervise unit staff while serving as a clinical resource. You’ll follow infection control, safety protocols, and participate in emergency management, with weekend rotation and a strong teamwork

Qualifications

• 1 year of recent RN experience in an Emergency Department.
• Active RN license to practice in Washington State.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient flow during shifts.
• Communicate changes in patient acuity.
• Assign resources to match patient needs.
• Direct and coordinate activities of unit staff.
• Act as a clinical resource and consultant during difficult situations with patients and visitors.
• Follow infection control plans, medication safety plans, PPE protocols.
• Minimize patient safety risks by following defined protocols (falls, pressure ulcers, restraints, etc.).
• Participate in emergency management (rapid response team, code 199, critical values, etc.).
• Provide constructive feedback to staff and support team-based care.
• Support patient satisfaction and customer service initiatives.
