Job summary

Cincinnati Children's Burnet Emergency Department is seeking a part-time Night shift Patient Care Assistant to support patient care under supervision of a registered nurse. The role entails assisting with activities of daily living, crisis de-escalation and patient transport as needed.

Responsibilities include plan-of-care tasks, documenting patient status, maintaining a safe environment and providing administrative support. Schedule: 24 hours weekly, 0.6 FTE, Location G.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one of the listed clinical qualifications.
• Completion of medical/surgical rotation from ACEN/CCNE/NLN CNEA accredited institution.
• Ohio STNA registry or Ohio CNA (reciprocity within 180 days if CNA in another state).
• Ohio or National EMS Registry.
• 1+ years of patient care experience in last 3 years.
• CPR training and maintenance of certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan of Care - Provide approved care of assigned patients and assist in implementation of interventions under supervision of RN.
• Communication - Demonstrates CARES behaviors and reports changes in patient condition; completes documentation in medical record.
• Environment - Keep division areas organized and safe; comply with Infection Control; adhere to safety procedures for pediatric ages.
• Administrative Support - Responds to alarms; answer phones per etiquette; assemble charts and stock clerical supplies; assist in training of new staff.
