Job summary

Havenwyck Hospital, a UHS facility, in Auburn Hills, MI, is seeking a Mental Health Technician for full-time night shifts (36 hours/week) with every-other weekend availability. You will assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, and daily patient care under RN supervision, focusing on safety and a therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Prefer a minimum of two years of college in psychology, social work, mental health, or related health fields.
• Experience dealing with emotionally disturbed is preferred.
• Employees must be in good standing to be considered for internal transfers.

Responsibilities

• Follows instructions given by all nursing leadership and as outlined in hospital policies and procedures.
• Reports patient medical problems to the Registered Nurse.
• Reports alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognizing the differences between illnesses, delusions and hallucinations; monitors safety and communicates issues to the RN.
• Provides care to patients with safety, rights, comfort and a therapeutic environment.
• Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers and completes appropriate documentation.
