Job summary

00 RHA Health Services, LLC is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) for the night shift at a facility-based crisis center in North Carolina. The role focuses on direct support, safety, and therapeutic assistance for individuals with intellectual and mental health challenges.

You will implement treatment interventions, monitor behaviors, document in the EHR, and participate in crisis prevention using trauma-informed care, while supporting a respectful, dignified environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in behavioral health or crisis settings preferred, not required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to individuals with psychiatric or co-occurring disorders, ensuring safety and well-being at all times.
• Follow the plan of care, including observation levels, safety checks, and supervision.
• Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, meals, mobility, and personal care, while promoting autonomy.
• Monitor and document behavior, mood, affect, sleep, intake/output, and participation in programming.
• Support individuals experiencing crisis using de-escalation, grounding, redirection, and therapeutic engagement techniques.
• Respond to behavioral or medical emergencies and all facility codes.
• Help maintain a structured, safe, and therapeutic environment within the unit or crisis setting.
• Lead or co-facilitate skills groups, recreational activities, psychoeducational sessions, and coping-skills practice as assigned.
• Encourage patient participation in therapeutic activities and support treatment goals.
• Monitor transitions, meals, quiet room time, visitation, and safe transport.
• Identify triggers and early warning signs; report concerns promptly to clinical staff.
• Utilize trauma-informed, least-restrictive intervention strategies to prevent escalation.
• Document observations, interventions, and incidents in the EHR.
