Job Overview

The Night Auditor will audit, balance, and report on various hotel areas (e.g., food and beverage outlets, rooms/front desk, gift shop) to ensure accurate, timely information, adherence to policies, and fraud prevention. The role involves responding professionally to guest inquiries and concerns both in person and via telephone, providing accurate information and services.

Responsibilities
  • Audit, balance, and report on all food and beverage cash and credit operations, including checks, deposits, house charges, and promotional materials, ensuring accuracy and resetting registers as needed.
  • Audit, balance, post, and report on front desk transactions such as room charges, phone calls, taxes, adjustments, and deposits, verifying proper cash handling.
  • Audit, balance, and prepare reports on room information, providing performance insights to management, and inputting statistics for daily reports.
  • Balance and close all bank ticket codes daily.
  • Run the night audit final after ensuring all revenues are balanced.
  • Greet guests and complete check-in procedures manually and via computer, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Facilitate guest check-out, closing accounts, and preparing rooms for the next guest.
  • Maintain good customer relations by staying informed about hotel functions and responding to guest inquiries promptly.
  • Operate PBX equipment for incoming and outgoing calls, wake-up calls, and guest paging.
  • Perform duties of a Front Desk Clerk, including express checkouts.
Qualifications
Education/Formal Training

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Accounting background preferred but not required.

Knowledge/Skills
  • Proficiency with personal computers, cash registers, and calculators.
  • Ability to compile and analyze facts and figures.
  • Excellent guest relations, telephone etiquette, and communication skills.
  • Moderate hearing for guest communication.
  • Good vision for CRT screen viewing.
  • Strong literacy skills for reading reports and numbers.
Physical Demands

90% standing; frequent bending and kneeling; ability to reach all hotel areas; prolonged standing at a climate-controlled workstation; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
