The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the nightly operations of the front desk, ensuring that all financial transactions and reports are accurately completed and prepared for the next day's operations. The primary focus of this role is to reconcile the day’s financial activities, manage guest services during the overnight shift, provide Manager on duty coverage, and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

- Perform the duties of a front desk agent, including guest check-in/check-out, reservation handling, and responding to guest inquiries.
- Reconcile all daily front desk activities, ensuring accuracy in the daily accounting processes.
- Run the trial balance to post rooms and close the day, preparing and distributing reports for the next day to relevant departments.
- Provide exceptional guest service by greeting and welcoming guests, handling complaints promptly, and ensuring a positive experience.
- Handle financial transactions such as accepting payments, maintaining a house bank, and preparing receipts.
- Issue and control access to safety deposit boxes, and post miscellaneous charges as requested.
- Respond to and resolve guest complaints efficiently and courteously.
- Answer telephones promptly, handle reservations, check-ins, and check-outs accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with transportation arrangements and be knowledgeable about local attractions and hotel services.
- Manage messages, wake-up calls, mail, and faxes promptly and accurately.
- Adhere to company SOPs to maintain consistency and compliance.
- Utilize the Property Management System and Electronic Key Equipment effectively.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area and respond promptly to requests from the Front Office Manager or Manager on Duty.
- Maintain open communication with all departments and share pertinent information.
- Be self-motivated, use time wisely, and respond positively to feedback.
- Demonstrate proper selling techniques during reservations and walk-ins, actively upselling to increase revenue.
- Complete shift closing accurately, obtaining necessary approvals.
- Work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Comply with all company rules and regulations for hotel operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of experience in an accounting or front office role preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of hotel services and local attractions.
- Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to sit for up to 8 hours, with walking and standing for the rest of the shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs and perform tasks involving repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
