Job summary

Jamaica Bay Inn, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, seeks a Night Auditor to manage overnight front desk and nightly financial close. You’ll greet guests, check in/out, answer questions, process reservations, and balance cash and revenues for a smooth dawn handoff.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hotel front desk experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of hotel front desk operations and procedures.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and making sound decisions during the overnight shift.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic accounting and reconciliation skills.
  • Comfortable handling cash, credit transactions, and guest accounts.
  • Basic computer skills, typing, and cash register skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dependable, responsible, and comfortable working overnight hours.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, professional guest service throughout the overnight shift.
  • Welcome arriving guests and complete check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Answer guest questions and provide knowledgeable information about the hotel and surroundings.
  • Process reservations by phone and in person, communicating rates and hotel information.
  • Process guest accounts, charges, receipts, and other forms of payment accurately.
  • Balance and control cash and credit transactions per hotel procedures.
  • Complete the nightly audit process and ensure revenues are balanced.
  • Review and reconcile financial activity, addressing discrepancies as needed.
  • Operate the hotel phone system and assist with calls and wake-up requests.
  • Process and distribute guest mail, messages, and communications
  • Maintain front desk logs and shift information for day team.
  • Stay informed about hotel amenities and local events to assist guests.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, clean front desk environment.
  • Work independently and know when to seek support.
  • Assist other departments as needed to support overnight operations.

ABOUT THE PROPERTY

Located along the waterfront in Marina del Rey, Jamaica Bay Inn, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, is a boutique coastal retreat with island-inspired charm and beautiful views of Mother’s Beach and the marina. The newly refreshed hotel features 111 guest rooms and suites, a heated beachfront pool, Beachside Restaurant & Bar, beach cruisers, and opportunities for kayaking and paddleboarding. Just minutes from Venice Beach, Abbot Kinney Boulevard, and the best of Southern California’s coastal attractions, Jamaica Bay Inn offers a relaxed setting for both leisure stays and waterfront events.

THE ROLE

As a Night Auditor, you’ll keep the hotel running smoothly through the overnight hours while balancing front desk responsibilities with the important work of closing out the hotel’s daily financial activity. You’ll be a welcoming presence for late-night guests while ensuring accounts, cash, and hotel revenues are accurate and balanced. You will:

Success means the hotel is ready for a new day when your shift is complete. Guest accounts are accurate, the night audit is balanced, front desk information is organized, and important details are clearly communicated to the morning team. At the same time, overnight guests receive the same warm, professional hospitality they would expect at any other time of day.
