Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, professional guest service throughout the overnight shift.
• Welcome arriving guests and complete check-in and check-out procedures.
• Answer guest questions, address concerns, and provide information about the hotel and area.
• Accept and manage reservations by phone and in person, communicating rates and hotel information.
• Process guest accounts, charges, receipts, and other forms of payment with accuracy.
• Balance and control cash and credit transactions according to procedures.
• Complete the nightly audit and ensure revenues are balanced before closing the day.
• Review and reconcile financial activity and address discrepancies as needed.
• Operate the hotel phone system and manage wake-up calls.
• Process and distribute guest mail, messages, and other communications.
• Maintain accurate front desk logs and shift information for the day team.

ABOUT THE PROPERTY

Located along Pacific Coast Highway in the heart of Hermosa Beach, Hotel Hermosa is a laid-back boutique hotel that captures the relaxed, eclectic spirit of Southern California. The 81-room property features beach-inspired accommodations, a year-round heated pool and spa, Beach Eats Café, and The Yard, an ocean-view outdoor space with fire pits, billiards, and lawn games. Just minutes from the beach, The Strand, and nearby Manhattan Beach, Hotel Hermosa offers a welcoming setting for guests to unwind, socialize, and experience the best of the South Bay.

THE ROLE

As a Night Auditor, you'll keep the hotel running smoothly through the overnight hours while balancing front desk responsibilities with the important work of closing out the hotel's daily financial activity. You'll be a welcoming presence for late-night guests while ensuring accounts, cash, and hotel revenues are accurate and balanced. You will:

• Provide friendly, professional guest service throughout the overnight shift

• Accept and manage reservations by phone and in person, accurately communicating rates and hotel information

• Balance and control cash and credit transactions in accordance with hotel procedures
• Complete the nightly audit process and ensure hotel revenues are balanced before closing the day
• Review and reconcile financial activity, identifying and addressing discrepancies as needed
• Operate the hotel phone system, assist with calls, and manage wake-up call requests
• Process and distribute guest mail, messages, and other communications
• Maintain accurate front desk logs and shift information to support clear communication with the day team
• Stay informed about hotel amenities, in-house activities, and local events to assist guests
• Maintain a safe, secure, clean, and welcoming front desk environment
• Work independently while knowing when to communicate issues or seek support
• Assist other departments and team members as needed to support overnight hotel operations

Success means the hotel is ready for a new day when your shift is complete. Guest accounts are accurate, the night audit is balanced, front desk information is organized, and important details are clearly communicated to the morning team. At the same time, overnight guests receive the same warm, professional hospitality they would expect at any other time of day.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 2+ years of hotel front desk experience preferred
• Knowledge of hotel front desk operations and procedures
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Comfortable working independently and making sound decisions during the overnight shift
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic accounting and reconciliation skills
• Comfortable handling cash, credit transactions, and guest accounts
• Basic computer, typing, and cash register skills
• Ability to prioritize and stay organized in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to maintain a professional and welcoming presence with guests at all times
• Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and carry up to 20 lbs.
