Job Purpose
The Night Auditor plays a vital role in guest service, financial accountability, and overnight hotel operations. This position combines hospitality and accounting responsibilities by providing warm, attentive service to late-arriving guests while preparing, balancing, and verifying daily revenue reports to support the hotel’s financial integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and assist guests during late-night and early-morning hours, including check-ins, check-outs, and general inquiries.
- Reconcile and audit all daily hotel transactions and departmental revenue reports, ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and correct coding.
- Prepare and distribute financial reports for property leadership and corporate review, including shift audit reports, daily revenue reports, and discrepancy summaries.
- Monitor hotel systems and operations overnight, including emergency response procedures, guest requests, and security protocols.
- Process no-show charges, review guest folios for accuracy, and correct billing errors as needed.
- Prepare guest arrival packets for the following day and communicate important notes and updates to the morning front desk team.
- Maintain the cleanliness, security, and professional presentation of the lobby, front desk, and shared guest areas throughout the night.
- Prepare and set up the morning breakfast buffet.
- Complete nightly laundry and light housekeeping duties as needed to support hotel operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management in support of the property and its guests.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional hospitality or accounting education or training preferred.
- Previous hotel front desk or night audit experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with property management systems and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle financial information, reports, and guest service responsibilities independently.
