Job summary

Methodist Mansfield Medical Center is seeking a Special Care Nursery Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide advanced respiratory care including ABG, PFT, ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, and airway maintenance for adults and neonates.

The ideal candidate has NICU experience, is a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program, holds Texas licensure, NBRC registration, and current BLS and ACLS certifications; NRP/PALS within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduates of accredited Respiratory Care programs are required.
• NICU/Special Care Nursery experience preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NRP/PALS to be obtained within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, humidity therapy, aerosol therapy and airway maintenance.
• Performs arterial blood gas analyses, pulse oximetry, PFTs and ECGs; documents results.
• Prepares treatment evaluations including bedside respiratory assessment and review of medical records.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data to guide patient care.
• Sets up, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment (ventilators, analyzers, delivery devices).
• Contributes to infection control, safety and quality assurance activities.
• Performs cleaning and preventive maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Works to improve patient satisfaction via effective scripting and communication.
• Other duties as assigned.
