Job summary

Methodist Mansfield Medical Center is seeking a Special Care Nursery Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide respiratory care to neonates and adults in the NICU and related units. You will perform ABG, PFTs, ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and airway support under indirect supervision.

A valid Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner license and NBRC registration are required, with BLS, ACLS, and NICU experience preferred.

Qualifications

• NICU/Special Care Nursery experience required
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
• Current Basic Life Support certification required
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies and electrocardiograms
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical records
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment (ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices, blood gas analyzers)
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas
• Uses patient scripting to support satisfaction and care delivery
