Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Nursing Unit Clerk role at Stead Family Children's Hospital NICU is a 60% position with evening and night shifts at Iowa City. The NUC supports nursing care and patient services through clerical and reception duties.

The successful candidate will manage communications, census data, charges processing, scheduling, and records while upholding infection control standards and contributing to a collaborative health care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 1 year clerical/health care experience, or 2 years clerical/health care experience.
• Preferred candidates: 6 months clerical experience, customer service, medical terminology, MS Word and MS Excel.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, visitors, and health care staff clearly and maintains cooperative relationships.
• Uses electronic systems to support team communication and patient care.
• Answers phones, delivers messages, and keeps white boards updated daily.
• Maintains census data, ADT entries in IDX, and billing accuracy.
• Assists in scheduling tests and appointments and follows infection control policies.
