Job description

Overview

Northern Wisconsin — Our client is a 500 bed hospital that is part of the largest and most successful health systems in the Midwest. They have one of the oldest and most successful NICU units in the state of Wisconsin. The market CNO is highly regarded, and has been a partner for over 20 years.

As a seasoned NICU clinician, you know that leadership directly impacts team performance, patient outcomes, and staff well-being — especially in high-acuity settings like the Neonatal ICU where every decision matters. Strong leadership not only elevates quality and safety, it also fosters trust and engagement among care teams, improving morale and retention.

But what truly motivates experienced NICU leaders to consider a career transition? Feedback from leaders across the country highlights these core drivers:

What motivates NICU leaders
  1. Meaningful Impact and Clinical Excellence — NICU managers want to shape practice, champion quality improvement, and influence the unit’s strategic direction — not just handle day-to-day tasks.

  2. Leadership Autonomy and Team Development — The ability to set clear expectations, support staff growth, and build a cohesive, resilient team — empowering nurses rather than directing them — is a top motivator for leaders ready to elevate their careers.

  3. Career Growth and Professional Recognition — NICU leaders value opportunities to grow into broader operational or executive roles, with leadership experience that accelerates advancement into senior clinical or administrative tracks.

  4. Work-Life Balance and Total Rewards — Competitive pay, structured schedules, robust benefits, and tangible support for professional development and well-being are key factors in deciding to pursue a new leadership role.

If these drivers resonate, consider this opportunity:

This role stands out because
  • Leadership Focus — Take the helm of a well-established NICU with a focus on safety, quality, process improvement and best practices — elevating care at every level.

  • Competitive Total Compensation — Strong pay range (up to approximately $72/hour plus up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus).

  • Career Advancement — Leadership responsibility that builds your clinical and operational resume while positioning you for future executive roles.

  • Professional Growth & Support — Education assistance, comprehensive benefits, PTO flexibility, retirement contributions, and programs to support your well-being.

  • Team-Centric Culture — Join a system grounded in respect, care, competence, and joy — where shared values drive outcomes and staff satisfaction.
