Responsibilities

• Responsible for proper cash handling and maintaining PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance.
• Maintain appropriate guest and team member relations, ensuring satisfaction.
• Maintain a positive attitude and appearance.
• Approach guests in a friendly manner to help and provide information regarding Newport Aquarium.
• Prioritize safety while working at Newport Aquarium.
• Collaborate with team members/departments to ensure effective communication.
• Be self-motivated, disciplined, and reliable.
• Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and special events/promotions to inform guests.
• Perform other related duties or projects as assigned by the Merchandise management team, e.g., stock replenishment.

Qualifications

• Prior cash handling and point of sale experience is a plus.
• Strong public speaking skills and proficiency in English (knowledge of other languages is a plus).
• Ability to think clearly and react quickly to changes and/or emergency situations.
• Previous guest service or retail experience preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
• Ability to remain stationary for long periods, ascend & descend floors, bend, and stoop.
• No history of allergies related to animals or plants that might interfere with work.
• Physical strength to lift, push, pull up to 25 pounds.
