Job description

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform, adhere to, and implement all Herschend Enterprises' Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Service Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest service operations.
2. Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium special events/promotions to properly notify and inform guests.
3. Be self-motivated to work independently, disciplined, and reliable.
4. Maintain appropriate guest and team member relations at all times, ensuring guest and team satisfaction.
5. Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
6. Maintain store cleanliness in accordance with food safety guidelines.
7. Handle cash properly and maintain PCI compliance.
8. Approach guests and team members in a friendly, respectful, outgoing, and proactive manner.
9. Perform other duties or projects as assigned by the Food and Beverage management team.
10. Be willing to cross-train in other Food and Beverage areas, such as the Cafe.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Prior cash handling and point of sale experience is a plus.
2. Strong public speaking skills and proficiency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
3. Ability to think clearly, react quickly, and remain calm in stressful situations.
4. Previous guest service or retail experience preferred.
5. Flexible schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a focus on weekday availability.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
2. Ability to remain stationary for long periods, ascend and descend floors, bend, and reach.
3. Physical strength to lift up to 25 pounds.

Note: This position involves exposure to nut allergens, inclement weather, dust, and potentially dangerous machinery. Personal Protective Equipment may be required.
