Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking a Transition Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Newborn Nursery. You will coordinate direct patient care, attend deliveries, and advocate for newborn needs during the critical two-hour transition period.

The ideal candidate brings at least 1 year of RN experience and 1 year in newborn, mother-baby, or NICU settings, with BLS and NRP certifications. BSN preferred; Texas RN license required.

Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical nursing experience as an RN.
• 1 year of experience in Newborn, Mother Baby, Neonatal ICU, or Newborn Transition care setting.
• Second skill-set can include Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, and/or NICU.

Responsibilities

• Attend deliveries to advocate for newborns after delivery.
• Assess and assist in safe extrauterine life adjustments of the newborn.
• Monitor the stability of the newborn and assess any anomalies or signs of distress.
• Complete initial head-to-toe assessment, medication administration, and ongoing assessments during the two-hour transition period.
• Mentor Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby Nurses as relief to transition care during busier times.
