Job summary

St. David’s North Austin Medical Center in Austin, TX is seeking a Transition Registered Nurse for the Newborn Nursery to coordinate and provide direct patient care during the critical transition period after delivery.

You will advocate for newborn needs, perform assessments, administer medications, monitor respiratory status, and support breastfeeding decisions. You will mentor Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby staff during peak times.

Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• 1 year of experience in Newborn, Mother Baby, NICU, or Newborn Transition care setting.
• Second skill-set can include Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, and/or NICU.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide direct patient care during the newborn transition period.
• Attend deliveries to advocate for newborn needs.
• Assess and assist in safe extrauterine life adjustments and monitor newborn stability.
• Complete head-to-toe assessment, administer medications, and ongoing mother/newborn assessments during the transition window.
• Mentor Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby Nurses during busy times.
