Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Medical Records associate in Birmingham, AL to manage birth data collection, abstraction, and interviews with parents. You will ensure timely completion and submission of birth certificates and fetal death certificates to the Alabama Department of Vital Statistics, maintaining confidentiality throughout.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or 2+ years of relevant experience in lieu of the education.
• 0-2+ years of experience in a clinical/hospital setting (preferably working within medical records).
• Prior computer and data entry work experience.
• State of Alabama Notary Public is required for this role, but not to interview. If selected and you do not have it, you must obtain it within 30 days of hire; Guidehouse will reimburse the expense.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a continuous operation of birth data collection activities through data collection, abstraction, interviews with parents and electronic data submission of birth and fetal death certificates to the Alabama Department of Vital Statistics.
• Ensure all certificates are completed for all newborns, securing signatures and paternity affidavits, and data submitted within 5 days of birth/death.
• Maintain birth registry, perinatal database and compile statistical reports.
• Interact with patients to ensure birth certificates are created timely.
• Review clinical documentation for accuracy and complete submissions to the Alabama Department of Vital Statistics.
