Job summary

Land Trust Alliance seeks a program director in New York to lead the state program, supervise staff, and coordinate with NYAC and agencies. You will drive strategic direction, policy advocacy, and fundraising efforts to support land conservation across New York.

Ideal candidates have seven+ years in senior nonprofit leadership, strong budgeting, and excellent communication skills to engage funders and diverse partners throughout the state.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years in leadership roles within nonprofit, government, philanthropy or related sectors.
• Experience with land conservation, private land practices, or community-based programs is ideal.
• Strong planning, program management, evaluation, and adaptability demonstrated.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction for New York work and oversee CPP/FCELT with governance partners.
• Lead policy, advocacy, fundraising, and communications for the New York program.
• Oversee budgets, contracts, and quarterly reporting to funders and leadership.
• Supervise New York Program staff and coordinate across teams and NYAC.
• Represent the Alliance with state government, agencies, and coalitions.
• Plan and host events including a state conference and workshops.
