Job summary

JLG, part of Oshkosh Corporation, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to work with the NPD Booms team. You will design, model and test mechanical systems for JLG access equipment and collaborate with global engineers to review vehicle component layouts in Creo Parametric.

You will also create and manage ECNs, update BOMs in PDM, and support prototype, pilot, or production builds with technical assistance, while performing engineering calculations and supplier/customer consultations as needed.

Qualifications

• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Previous internship or work experience.
• Familiarity with Creo Parametric, Pro-E, CATIA is a plus.
• Understanding of basic steel and sheet metal fabrication principles.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Design, model and test new mechanical systems that integrate with JLG Access Equipment.
• Research and execute on CIRs to support manufacturing, supply chain, and customer feedback/operations.
• Work with global engineering resources to prepare/revise/review vehicle component layouts using CAD (i.e. Creo Parametric).
• Create and manage ECNs (Engineering Change Notices) using the PLM system.
• Update bill of materials in the PDM system to reflect product changes.
• Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance.
• Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.
• Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.
• Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.
