Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of medical scheduling or healthcare administrative experience preferred.
• Experience with electronic medical records preferred (eClinicalWorks).
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification preferred.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for new patient inquiries via phone, email, and referrals.
• Schedule new patient appointments ensuring provider availability and appropriate appointment types.
• Enter patient demographics, insurance, and referral information into the EMR.
• Verify insurance eligibility and referral/authorization requirements.
• Explain policies, appointment expectations, and required documentation to patients.
• Coordinate receipt of medical records, imaging, and referrals prior to appointments.
• Collaborate with providers and staff to facilitate timely scheduling.
• Maintain accurate patient records and HIPAA/privacy compliance.
• Respond to patient questions with professionalism and empathy.
• Monitor referral work queues and follow up on pending referrals.
• Assist with additional administrative duties as assigned.
