Job summary

Actalent in Dearborn, MI seeks a manufacturing engineering leader to drive a new model development program from concept through final assembly. You will apply lean principles, develop tooling and fixtures, and lead virtual assembly builds while coordinating with design and release teams. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or equivalent manufacturing engineering.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of manufacturing experience (including internships).
• Willingness to travel and support launches at North American assembly plants (USA, Canada & Mexico).
• 2+ years of Microsoft Office experience (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Up to 40–50% travel required.

Responsibilities

• Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program from concept to launch.
• Develop tooling and facilities based on product and process.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve quality, cost and throughput.
• Lead virtual manufacturing assembly builds and define joining strategies and tooling needs.
• Drive resolution of manufacturing issues and interface with Design and Release teams.
• Develop assembly process instructions and enter process sheets into VPS system.
• Lead tooling specification, purchase, installation, startup and commissioning at the assembly site.
• Track open tooling and process issues to closure and meet exit criteria.
