Job summary

The Nature Conservancy in New Mexico seeks a State Director to lead the New Mexico Business Unit from Santa Fe, with a hybrid work model prioritizing in-office days. You will guide conservation priorities, build Tribal Nation partnerships, and steward resources to deliver measurable results for the BU and the Western US & Canada Division.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 7 years of management experience or equivalent relevant combination.
• Leading and managing a multi-disciplinary team with a proven ability to motivate, manage, set objectives, and manage performance.
• Experience working and operating in New Mexico.
• Experience in natural resources and/or the environment more broadly.
• Strategic planning and systems thinking for large, complex initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the New Mexico BU, aligning resources and priorities to achieve conservation goals.
• Oversee policy, fundraising, and finance; drive private and public fundraising targets.
• Collaborate with Division leaders and Tribal partners to advance cross-boundary conservation initiatives.
• Represent TNC with donors, government agencies, and community partners; steward relationships and communications.
