Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Telecommunications Engineer in California to assist in designing telecom networks and supporting complex utility projects including SCADA, distribution automation, cyber security, microwave, wireless, fiber, and smart grid.

The role emphasizes collaboration with project teams, adherence to schedules and QA/QC standards, and development of new methods through advanced tools and analyses. EIT preferred; BA/BS in electrical or related engineering required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer or related engineering from an ABET-accredited program (required).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to apply diverse knowledge to broad assignments and devise new approaches.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing telecommunications networks using client standards or developing new standards.
• Support project deliverables: bill of materials, specifications, yard layouts, equipment plans, wiring diagrams, and network diagrams.
• Assist in executing complex tasks with advanced tools to develop new processes or methods.
• Identify and help resolve project issues; adhere to project schedules and QA/QC guidelines.
• Collaborate with project team to ensure client satisfaction and compliance with procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
