Job summary

Windham Hospital offers a Nurse Residency program designed to help newly licensed RNs transition to clinical practice with mentorship and hands-on training. The program, in partnership with Vizient/AACN, runs for 12 months and places Nurse Residents directly into specialty areas such as Med/Surg, Telemetry, Emergency, and OR.

Education sessions supplement on-unit training to build confidence and competence.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing.
• Active CT RN license is required; new graduates may start under Graduate Nurse status per CT DPH guidelines.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire, and ability to obtain department certifications.

Responsibilities

• participate in a 12-month Nurse Residency program with focused clinical education.
• rotate to specialty areas (Med/Surg, Telemetry, Emergency, OR) as needed.
• attend classroom sessions and mentorship activities to enhance confidence and competence.
• develop clinical autonomy and leadership skills for future nursing roles.
