Windham Hospital offers a Nurse Residency program designed to help newly licensed RNs transition to clinical practice with mentorship and hands-on training. The program, in partnership with Vizient/AACN, runs for 12 months and places Nurse Residents directly into specialty areas such as Med/Surg, Telemetry, Emergency, and OR.
Education sessions supplement on-unit training to build confidence and competence.

We care about you and are committed to empower you to successfully navigate your professional nursing journey. We have partnered with the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program™ to provide resources to help new nurses gain confidence and increase competence during this 12-month program. Your well‑being as a new nurse is enhanced through hands-on training and processing clinical experiences. Nurse Residents will be hired directly to a specialty area where they will receive focused clinical education. The positions offered vary based on the needs of the hospital and may include Med / Surg / Telemetry, Emergency and Operating Room. In addition to clinical immersion on the unit, Nurse Residents meet in a classroom format to share experiences and receive additional education and training.
Graduate of a school of nursing.
New RN Graduate Nurses or newly licensed RNs.
By completing the Nurse Residency Program, newly-licensed nurses are able to competently and safely manage a full patient assignment with confidence, and will be well‑positioned to become future leaders in the nursing profession.
