Job summary

UNC Health Rex is seeking new graduate nurses for a twelve-month Nurse Residency program designed to support the transition from academia to clinical practice. It offers wrap-around support across all nursing levels, including unit-based orientation, classroom skills sessions, ongoing education, and a group evidence-based practice project.

Participants complete unit-defined milestones with regular check-ins from leadership.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina by the day of clinical care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and attends education programs.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes and communicates for continuity of care.
• Implementation - Delivers care with competence for patients with complex needs.
• Leadership - Contributes to unit goals and safety, promotes intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
• Patient Assessment - Assesses needs and plans care with the patient and family.
• Planning - Collaborates on updating the plan of care with multidisciplinary resources.
• Research - Reads and shares applicable journals for practice.
