Job summary

UNC Health Care is offering a 12-month Rex Nurse Residency program to support new graduate nurses transitioning into professional practice. The program combines unit-based clinical orientation with classroom sessions and ongoing education, including a group evidence-based project.

New graduates will participate in regular check-ins with unit leadership, have varied start dates based on graduation and NCLEX, and may qualify for tuition loan forgiveness and relocation incentives.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nursing program and eligibility for RN licensure in NC.
• BSN preferred and NCLEX completion eligibility.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting according to professional standards.
• Coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process under supervision.
• Engage in structured clinical and professional growth through the residency program.
• Participate in education programs, review patient education materials, and assess learning readiness.
• Contribute to unit goals and participate in performance improvement activities.
