UNC Health Rex Healthcare offers a 12-month Nurse Residency program designed to support new graduate nurses transitioning to practice. The program provides structured clinical education, classroom sessions, and ongoing professional development with milestones and leadership check-ins.

Eligible candidates are new graduates with RN licensure in North Carolina by the start of clinical care and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina by the day of clinical care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• No prior experience required.

Responsabilités

• Education - participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of patients and families.
• Evaluation of Care - identifies expected patient outcomes; discusses plan of care with team; promotes continuity of care.
• Implementation - provides care for patients with complex problems; performs bedside testing; follows policies and procedures; prioritizes patient needs.
• Leadership - develops goals for professional growth; supports intra/interdepartmental collaboration; promotes cost-effective care.
• Patient Assessment - synthesizes data to determine care priorities; anticipates discharge needs and family advocacy.
• Planning - collaborates with patient/family to plan care; uses multidisciplinary resources; addresses cultural issues.
• Research - reads journals and shares applicable ideas for assessment.
