Job summary

University of Maryland Capital Region Health seeks a Physician Assistant to join a fast-paced neuroscience team in Largo, MD. The role offers 25-hour shifts and hands-on experience across neurosurgery, neurocritical care, neurointerventional radiology, and elective neurosurgical care.

You'll work with neurosurgeons, APPs, nurses, and the care team to provide care for acutely and critically ill neuroscience patients, participate in rounds, and develop treatment plans with the physician team.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care to acutely and critically ill neuroscience patients
• Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory studies
• Develop initial diagnoses and treatment plans in collaboration with the physician team
• Coordinate care and communicate effectively with attending physicians, consulting services, nursing teams, patients, and families
• Educate and counsel patients and families throughout the course of care
• Perform advanced procedures in accordance with approved privileges and demonstrated competency
• Assist with wound management, suturing, and other bedside procedures
• First assist in the operating room when needed
• Support continuity and full clinical coverage across the neuroscience service
