University of Maryland Capital Region Health in Largo, MD, seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join the Neuroscience Program, covering Neurosurgery and Neurointerventional Radiology day services. Qualifications

  • Completion of BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Eligible for credentialing through UM Capital Region Health Medical Staff Office.
  • ATLS certification preferred.
  • Experience in neurosurgery, neurocritical care, stroke care or related neuroscience field is preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary coverage for Neurosurgery and Neurointerventional Radiology day services.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage complex neurosurgical and neurovascular patients.
  • Conduct daily rounds, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and coordinate care.
  • Educate patients and families; participate in quality improvement and program development.
  • Support cross-training and cross-coverage within neuroscience services.

is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing Neuroscience Program.

This full-time day position offers the opportunity to work alongside leading specialists in neurosurgery, neurocritical care, and neurointerventional radiology while providing care to patients with complex neurological and cerebrovascular conditions.

Advanced Clinical & Procedural Practice

As an integral member of the neuroscience team, you will:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage complex neurosurgical and neurovascular patients.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, daily rounds, and treatment planning.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies.
  • Coordinate care across multiple specialties and care settings.
  • Educate and support patients and families throughout their treatment journey.
  • Perform advanced procedures including:
  • Intracranial monitoring placement and management
  • External ventricular drain (EVD) management
  • VP shunt taps
  • Suturing and wound care
  • Participate as a first assist in the operating room when appropriate.

Qualifications
Nurse Practitioners
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • RN experience required.
  • Completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Active Maryland Nurse Practitioner license.
Physician Assistants
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • NCCPA certification required.
  • Active Maryland Physician Assistant license.
Preferred Experience
  • One year of experience in neurosurgery, neurocritical care, stroke care, or a related neuroscience specialty.
Required Certifications
