Job summary

University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC) seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for its Neurosurgery team in Glen Burnie, MD. You will work with neurosurgeons, nurses, and care teams to support patients with complex neurological needs, gaining bedside procedural experience and delivering education to patients and families.

This role includes varied duties across inpatient and perioperative care, with 8- or 12-hour shifts and night/weekend coverage.

Qualifications

Licensed and board-certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
Experience in neurosurgery or related neurological care preferred.
Strong clinical judgment and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient examinations and evaluations.
Develop diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up recommendations.
Order and interpret diagnostic testing.
Collaborate with neurosurgeons, nursing, case management, referring providers, and the multidisciplinary team.
Provide education to patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and next steps.
Perform advanced procedures and support surgical needs as appropriate.
Provide wound care, dressing changes, and wound closure.
Review and interpret laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic findings.
Maintain thorough and timely clinical documentation.
Help coordinate safe, efficient, patient-centered care across the continuum.
