Job summary

The Chattree Lab at UC San Diego in the Department of Neurosciences seeks a Laboratory Assistant I to support mouse behavioral, imaging, histology, and molecular procedures and to help with day-to-day lab operations.

Under supervision, you will build organized records and workflows, receive hands-on training, and interact with the PI to discuss research findings, with mentorship linking circuit neuroscience to clinical neurology questions.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED and one year of lab experience; or two years of college including sciences; or equivalent combination.
• Foundational knowledge of biology, neuroscience or related discipline.
• Willingness to learn lab techniques under supervision and work with mice.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate records.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail for samples, supplies, and schedules.
• Clear communication and teamwork; ability to discuss results and seek guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with mouse behavioral, surgical, imaging, histological, and molecular procedures.
• Support day-to-day laboratory operations and establish organized records and workflows.
• Receive training in lab techniques and apply skills under supervision.
• Interact with the PI and discuss research findings; connect neuroscience with clinical questions.
