Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Staff Research Associate II in Neurosciences to oversee daily laboratory operations and animal colony management. The role supports the PI with research activities, tissue collection, genotyping and data management in a dynamic neuroscience lab.

The position requires strong lab management skills,Genetics/Neuroscience background, and experience in grant support and scientific writing. 100% effort, typical 8-hour day schedule at the La Jolla site.

Qualifications

• Theory in Genetics, Molecular Biology with neuroscience context.
• Mouse colony maintenance and genotyping experience.
• Experience with laboratory design, data interpretation and experimental planning.
• Ability to manage lab operations, purchases, compliance and safety.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with data tracking in Access.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day laboratory operations and finances.
• Manage mouse colony and animal care logistics.
• Prepare tissue samples and assist with genotyping and other procedures.
• Maintain compliance with EH&S and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to grant proposals, progress reports and manuscripts.
