Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Nursing Assistant I/II for the Neurology unit. This part-time night-shift role supports patient care under RN supervision and emphasizes compassionate, ethical patient interactions.

Qualifications

• One year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.
• Preferred: NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license or CNA training program; HS diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Change simple dressings as directed and assist with enemas, douches, and irrigations as directed.
• Apply hot water bottles, aqua K pads, ice bags, and cold/hot compresses as directed.
• Chart and document care and/or behaviors as required.
• Take temperatures, pulse, blood pressure and respirations.
• Assist with daily living activities and hygiene to maintain comfort and safety.
• Help feed persons requiring assistance to ensure proper nutrition.
• Bathe and dress patients and assist with grooming as needed.
• Respect patients' rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
• May perform light housekeeping tasks related to direct patient care.
