Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training.
• BLS certification current at hire.
• Certification as Surgical Technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by reviewing case cart and stocking supplies and instruments.
• Assembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures per physician preferences and procedure.
• Inspects equipment for proper working condition and maintains sterile field.
• Maintains sterile technique and aseptic practices according to AORN guidelines.
• Assists with various surgical cases and passes instruments to the surgeon as needed.
• Performs appropriate counts before incision and before closing.
• Prepares and labels fluids and medications on the sterile field and prepares specimens for analysis.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization and assists in turnover.
• Participates in assigned on call activities.
