Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) seeks a Registered Nurse for the Medical-Surgical unit (7 West) in Boston, MA. The RN will provide patient-centered care in a 38-bed unit serving Neurology and Stroke patients, with responsibilities across assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation and education.

The role requires MA RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS where required; degree in Diploma/ASN/BSN (BSN preferred with 4 years to obtain).

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts (RN license).
• 1+ years RN experience preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS in certain units.
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred); BSN within 4 years if not held.
• Relevant clinical experience or specialty certification required for certain areas.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Fluency in another language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical unit per patient needs.
• Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to interprofessional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data and information.
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
• Assist leadership with quality improvement projects.
