Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Neuro Stepdown unit at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, OH. The PCT will support nurses with basic patient care, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living and document care in the charting system.

The position is full-time nights (7pm–7am) with every 3rd weekend, serving patients in a fast-paced neuroscience setting. Prior acute care experience and BLS/Possible certification are valued assets.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care, physician’s office, home health, or long-term care.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred on hire; must obtain before direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
• Provides high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely in the EHR.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information upon arrival and departure.
