Job summary

Mercy Health’s St. Rita's Medical Center-Neuro Stepdown unit seeks a Patient Care Technician to assist with essential patient care during overnight shifts. Responsibilities include basic care, vitals monitoring, and liaising with nurses to ensure patient safety and comfort.

The role emphasizes documentation accuracy, professional interaction with patients and families, and adherence to hospital policies. Night schedule may require weekend coverage and ongoing EPIC EHR use.

Qualifications

• Must have completed nursing aide training program or STNA/CNA certification
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred or must obtain prior to direct patient care
• Experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice or long-term care is preferred
• Ability to work nights and adapt to a fast-paced hospital environment

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including hygiene, feeding and mobility assistance
• Monitor patient health and vital signs and report changes to RN
• Document care accurately and timely in the EHR
• Assist with patient throughput and hand-off communications
