Howard University Hospital seeks a Clinical Nurse Manager for Neurology 5 West (Neuro/Spine/Brain) in Washington, DC. The role leads daily department operations, mentors staff, and drives quality improvement. Shifts are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. or as needed.

The position offers a $130,000–$155,000 pay range, commensurate with experience, and requires strong leadership, budgeting, and patient-centered care. Eligibility includes DC RN licensure and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required; Master's Degree preferred.
• Five years of RN experience in acute care (Med-Surg and Neuro).
• Three years of supervisory experience.
• Current District of Columbia Registered Nurse license.
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Leadership certification within 1 year of eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day department operations.
• Mentor charge nurses and staff; promote shared decision-making.
• Manage staff orientation, education, competencies, and performance evaluations.
• Develop and monitor department budgets; manage variances.
• Lead patient rounds to enhance care quality and patient experience.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and alignment with strategic plans.
