Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Neuro-ICU on the night shift. The role involves comprehensive patient assessment, planning, and execution of skilled nursing care for acute neuro patients.

The nurse collaborates with families and the health care team, ensuring evidence-based, individualized care plans and adherence to standards and regulations. A BSN is preferred; ADN with plan to obtain BSN is acceptable.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• Strong analytic abilities.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward outcomes.
• Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff. Creates a documented plan focused on outcomes and communications.
• Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents the patient’s responses to nursing interventions and individualizes the care plan based on findings.
• Uses evidence-based practice and research findings to guide decisions.
